Rosalia Borchtsch

"I worked at Bloomfield Hospital for 26 years, starting in the laundry. Later I worked at the Central West Linen Service. We were living on the corner of Margaret and Sampson streets at the time and I caught a bus to work from the corner of March and Sampson streets. We had patients to help us in the laundry: we had to go to the wards and collect them and bring them to the laundry to work. Bloomfield was the most helpful place to learn English because there were no other Ukrainians working there, so at lunch time and tea time you had to listen carefully and learn. You didn't hear anything but English."
